Where to park?
On Farmers’ Market Saturdays, there are both free and metered parking available. Click here to view our Downtown parking map.
Please note: The 2-hour and 4-hour limit is waived in the free parking lots “X” and “Y” during Market hours.
When to go?
Packing List:
Reusable bag – while our vendors may have bags for you, we always encourage the use of reusable bags.
Cooler – If you plan to stay awhile, sometimes it’s nice to drop the produce in the car and continue your stroll without holding bags. We’d love for you to stay after the market and enjoy the rest of the businesses that call Downtown Ames home.
Your Smile! With over 3,000 people coming through the market, there’s sure to be people you know, people you will meet for the first time and lots of opportunity to bring joy to someone new. Community happens here and we are so excited to welcome you every week from May-October.
Do I Bring Cash or Card?
Both! Not all of our vendors are the same, especially when it comes to accepting payments. Some vendors accept just cash, just cards, or they accept both! Venmo is also an option for select vendors.

Can I Bring My Pets?
The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market is for everyone, including your 4-legged friends (don’t forget the leash and a bag to pick up messes)! Adults will enjoy the variety of offerings from our vendors and live music, kids will enjoy the activities and many food vendors and the dogs will enjoy the stretch and meeting new friends.
While pets are welcome, please do know that pets (with the exception of service animals) are not allowed in vendor booths if they have fresh produce or baked goods
