Come to Ames Public Library for a book release and panel discussion featuring We Can Do Better: Collected Writings on Land, Conservation, and Public Policy.
This book collects writing by Paul Johnson, who was a farmer, conservationist, and Iowa state legislator. Johnson also served as chief of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. In Ames, he is especially remembered as the co-creator of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University.
Curt Meine, conservation biologist and editor of We Can Do Better will discuss and read from the book. A panel of guests will explore Johnson’s legacy and the relevance of his writings for today’s conservation and agricultural policies.
Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Dog-Eared Books.
