Who We Are
Ames Main Street has been the heart of Downtown Ames since its establishment, dedicated to fostering a vibrant, thriving district for businesses, residents, and visitors alike. In 2009, Ames proudly became a Main Street Iowa community, reinforcing the city’s commitment to historic preservation, economic growth, and community engagement.
Ames Main Street hosts a variety of events throughout the year driving traffic to our retail and service businesses while bringing people together to celebrate the unique culture and energy of Downtown Ames. Our organization also provides resources and support to local businesses, helping them flourish within our dynamic downtown environment.
Ames Main Street is also a Cultural & Entertainment District, an official designation from the Iowa Arts Council.
Our Affiliations
Ames Main Street is an affiliate of the Ames Regional Economic Alliance and housed within the same building at 304 Main Street.
Through rigorous accreditation processes yearly, Ames Main Street is also a member of Main Street Iowa and Main Street America. As such, every business operating in the Ames Main Street District is a member of the organization and has access to the services offered through it. This is only possible through the continued financial support of individuals, businesses, and City of Ames investment into our organization.
