Ames Community Arts Council Celebrates 50 Years During the 2026 Ames Artists’ Studio Tour

Ames, IA – The Ames Community Arts Council will mark its 50th anniversary with a special reception on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 6–8 p.m. at The Recipe in downtown Ames (412 Burnett Ave.). Held in conjunction with the 2026 Ames Artists’ Studio Tour, the event invites community members, artists, and supporters to gather for drinks (cash bar), specialty hors d’oeuvres, and live music by Reggie Greenlaw as the Arts Council celebrates five decades of creativity, connection, and service to the Ames arts community.

The 2026 Ames Artists’ Studio Tour takes place throughout the weekend—Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.—offering visitors a free, self‑guided opportunity to explore 13 participating studios across Ames. Guests can meet local artists, experience a wide range of mediums, and discover original paintings, ceramics, woodworking, radio, and more, created in the artists’ own workspaces. A full map of participating studios and additional details are available at www.amesart.org.

This milestone celebration is made possible with generous support from The Recipe and the Discover Ames Community Grant Program. The Ames Community Arts Council is supported in part by the City of Ames Commission on the Arts (COTA).
